Both. Scope can be a single rack, a cage, a server room or a larger hall. Staffing and access are planned from the inventory or inspection.

Can you work in a live environment?

Removal is planned around the equipment you have released. Isolation of power and network is your responsibility unless we agree otherwise in writing.

What happens to racks and PDUs?

Racks and PDUs can be removed if they are part of the agreed scope and building rules allow it. Reusable items may be assessed for buyback; the rest can be recycled.

How are disks handled?

Disks are wiped using NIST SP 800-88 aligned processes or physically destroyed, including on-site destruction when that is required.

Do you pay for surplus servers?

Reusable servers, storage and networking equipment can be valued for buyback as part of the same decommission.

Planned removal of live and retired IT infrastructure

Data-centre decommissioning is the planned removal of servers, storage, networking equipment, racks and associated IT infrastructure. It is used when a hall, cage, server room or lab is being emptied, reduced, or moved.

MAH Recycling sequences collection around your access windows, records what is removed, applies the agreed data-handling method, and then buys reusable equipment or recycles the rest. We do not treat this as a generic office scrap pickup.

Racks, power isolation, floor loading, lift access and building permits affect how the job is staffed. A list or an inspection comes first.

Scope and valuation

We propose a removal plan, data-handling method, buyback estimate for reusable kit, and recycling for the remainder.

Scheduled removal

Work is done in the access window you approve. Assets leave with documented chain of custody.

Sanitize, buy or recycle, then report

Disks are wiped or physically destroyed as agreed. Reusable equipment is assessed for buyback. The rest is recycled. Inventory reporting follows.

Data destruction in a decommission

Most decommissions include disks that still hold data. The method is written into the scope before tools come out.

Reporting
